François Doucet: Migrating from PrestaShop 8 to Atomic Suite

François Doucet Confiseur, an artisan confectionery based in the south of France, was running its website on PrestaShop 1.7, which had become difficult to maintain within a legacy multi-shop ecosystem. The brand faced two challenges: modernising its visual identity in collaboration with its long-standing creative agency, Korigan, and upgrading its ageing technical infrastructure. 202 ecommerce led the migration to PrestaShop 8 using Atomic Suite, working directly from Korigan’s Figma mock-ups and addressing business requirements (ingredients, nutritional values, heritage information) without a single line of custom code.
Background
François Doucet Confiseur is an artisan confectionery based in the south of France, recognised as a Living Heritage Company. Its e-commerce site, www.francois-doucet.com, featured a catalogue of around 600 products centred on the company’s specialities: fruit jellies, calissons, coated fruits and chocolates. The site had been running on PrestaShop 1.7 for several years, using a multi-shop architecture that had met an initial need but had, over time, become cumbersome to manage on the back-end.
Three factors triggered the migration project. Firstly, the PrestaShop 1.7 platform was reaching the end of its maintenance cycle and had accumulated technical debt that would be difficult to resolve without a complete overhaul. Secondly, the brand had been working for a long time with a trusted creative agency, Korigan, which had designed a new visual identity and delivered complete Figma mock-ups. Finally, the merchandising team wanted to regain control over the site’s presentation — updating the homepage seasonally, adding or reorganising sections on a category page, and adapting the way a product range is showcased — without having to systematically call on a technical service provider.
The brief sent to 202 ecommerce could be summed up in a single sentence: modernise the e-shop without breaking what works. Keep Korigan as the creative agency. Give the marketing teams the means to design their pages independently. And switch to PrestaShop 8 at the same time.
The key issue: the autonomy of marketing teams
The real focus of this project wasn’t technical. It was organisational.
On François Doucet’s website, as with many retailers, the content in the spotlight is constantly changing. A homepage that adapts to the calendar: Valentine’s Day, the festive season, the summer range. A category page that we want to enhance with a section on the company’s history. A promotional banner to add to a flagship product page. A new reassurance block to test. All these tasks relate to presentation: adding a section, changing the order of blocks, altering a layout.
In a standard PrestaShop setup, each of these tasks requires some development work, however minimal. For the marketing team, this means a delay, a ticket to open, a service provider to call upon — and ultimately, a website that lags behind the brand’s actual communications.
The project’s objective was therefore clearly defined: to rebuild the site on a framework within which the marketing team could design its pages and update the layout itself, without touching the code and without having to call on the agency for every adjustment.
This is exactly the role played by Atomic Suite.
Atomic Suite: a library of components for building the website

Atomic Suite is a library of components for PrestaShop developed by 202. In practical terms, it is a set of ready-to-use sections — hero sections, editorial inserts, banners, product highlights, reassurance blocks, callouts, visual mosaics — which e-commerce teams assemble from the back office to build their pages.
Whereas a standard PrestaShop theme locks the page structure at the time of integration, Atomic Suite shifts this logic: the page is no longer a fixed deliverable, but a composition that the marketing team can modify, reorder and enhance at will. Adding a section to the homepage, inserting a seasonal banner on a category page, reordering blocks on a landing page: everything is done by dragging and dropping existing components.
For Korigan, François Doucet’s creative agency partner, this framework has transformed collaboration. Rather than designing mock-ups ‘freely’, which would have resulted in a theme requiring extensive bespoke development, Korigan drew on the Figma Atomic Suite library. 202 ecommerce supported this work upstream, reworking the mock-ups internally to align Korigan’s design intentions with the available components. The result: direct integration, without bespoke development, and a design that can be perfectly replicated by the back-office e-commerce teams.
It is this fluidity that makes all the difference. A creative agency can work on the presentation
Rearrange the pages, bring the sections to life
To gauge the impact of Atomic Suite, you need to look at the day-to-day operations of an e-commerce site which typically result in support tickets.
Changing the layout of a homepage as the seasons change — switching from a product spotlight to a brand story, inserting a ‘Valentine’s Day’ banner, rearranging the order of sections: on François Doucet, these tasks are carried out by selecting and moving Atomic components in the back office, without touching the template.
Adding a new section to a category page or a landing page — an editorial insert, a video, a testimonials module, a ‘Living Heritage Company’ block — simply involves selecting the relevant component from the library and dragging it to the desired location. No development, no bespoke HTML/CSS integration.
Adapting templates across different pages — homepage, categories, product pages, corporate pages — without starting from scratch: the same Atomic components are reused, configured differently, ensuring automatic visual consistency across the entire site.
What this actually changes is the relationship with the site. For François Doucet’s marketing team, updating the layout is no longer a request to be made, but an action to be carried out. The season changes, the campaign evolves, a new range arrives: the site keeps pace with the brand, not the other way round.

Migrate the catalogue and simplify the architecture
Alongside the design and content work, three major technical projects were carried out by the 202 teams.
Migration from PrestaShop 1.7 to PrestaShop 8. The product catalogue, customer database, order history, CMS pages and SEO structure: everything was migrated without any disruption to service or loss of search engine rankings. The migration provided an opportunity to clean up several layers of historical data that had accumulated on the previous site.
Switch to a single-shop setup. The legacy multi-shop architecture was replaced by a single-shop setup. For the merchant-side teams, this represents a significant simplification of back-office management: a single catalogue to maintain, a single set of parameters, and a single stock management system.
Redesign of the front-end integration using the Atomic theme. All pages — homepage, categories, product pages, corporate pages — have been rebuilt using Atomic components, ensuring visual consistency and long-term maintainability.
Set up the ERP connection

- Migration PrestaShop 1.7 vers PrestaShop 8 : catalogue, clients, commandes, CMS, SEO
